With your session fee you get 1-3 hours with me at any location within 20 miles of Bristol, RI. Usually it ends up being about one hour, but block three hours, just in case, especially in the case of newborns.
Now is the time to book. Like right now! I book up fully approximately 8-12 weeks out, and I want to photograph your new bundle, so pretty please contact me as soon as possible to schedule your newborn session. Do not wait til lil' lady or lil' man is here (sadly, that will be too late). I will secure you a spot now. We book book the session, but do not book an actual date because of course, anything can happen.
I record your due date, and you check in with me as things progress. After you have the baby, typically before even leaving the hospital, you'll contact me and we will set up a time within the first fourteen days of your baby's life.
Newborn sessions are my favorite. It is such a joy to witness your baby's first days of life. And yes, I mean first days:) I prefer shooting newborns before two weeks of age. I will plan around your schedule; scheduling a session right at feeding time usually makes baby happy. Newborn sessions take place in the comfort of Élan Studio. The studio lighting is beautiful, and the controlled temperature is perfect for baby. I have all of the blankets, hats, headbands, boxes and baskets, everything we'll need. If the weather is really warm and you are feeling adventurous, I can also shoot your newborn outdoors.
I love shooting both in studio and outdoors, so it's entirely up to you. Elan Studio is a 1,500 sq. ft. studio with lots of natural light, tons of props, and a very cozy environment. But, we are fortunate to live in one of the most beautiful places in America, so we also have tons of outdoor locations to choose from (weather permitting). So, either way, you can't go wrong, and I can help you decide!
A family should wear colors and should coordinate without dressing too "matchy matchy". I would recommend that you pick a few colors and have everyone wear different combinations of those colors (sometimes it is easier to pick out one outfit for someone and work from that). Try to avoid white; it tends to wash people out.

Layers are great for toddlers and children. Feel free to try vests, jackets, blazers, skirts with leggings, or any other combination of clothes. Layers always photograph nicely.
I love accessories! Hats, funky glasses, necklaces, earrings, leg warmers, scarves, hair flowers and headbands - the sky is the limit! Make it interesting!
Try to avoid: wild prints, items of clothing with large logos/writing or cartoon characters. These tend to 'date' photos and do not photograph well.
Props: If your child has a favorite book, toy, animal, feel free to bring it along.
Absolutely! We can totally work together to ensure your family looks A-Mazing!
I have zero problem shooting in overcast skies, and so if it's cloudy or a little gray, I will most likely choose to shoot! However, if it's rainy, we will reschedule your session.
Prints or digital files are not included in your session fee.
Expect about 30+ final edited images in your gallery to view. However, with newborns, depending on their "disposition," expect 20-30 images.
Yes, absolutely! I offer both print and digital options.
